You can’t convince the farmers in a cluster of small farms owned by many small-scale to medium-scale shrimp farmers to resort to the low-stocking semi-intensive method of shrimp farming amidst an outbreak. Not going to happen in India which is an entirely different scenario from Ecuador where the ponds are designed for a low-stocking semi-intensive method of shrimp farming.

That one pond alone is 645.46 meters long and 305.67 meters wide or 197,297.75 square meters or 19.7 hectares. You stock just this one pond alone at 20 PL/square meter and that is going to be 3,944,000 PL and if you harvest at 25g with 85% survival that will be 83.81 metric tons and this is just one of the many huge ponds in one gigantic 500-hectare commercial shrimp farm (bounded by the vertical straight-line immediately on the right of the red marker) using the low stocking semi-intensive method of shrimp farming, the Ecuadorian way that can never be applied in India because if you own a small shrimp farm you want to make the most of it by stocking more to compensate for the small space.

That marked pond is 267.62 meters long and 60.87 meters wide or 16,290 square meters or 1.6 hectares and because of spatial limitation, high-stocking, intensive shrimp farming will be the choice to make the most of the limited space.

While this RED MARKED SHRIMP POND under the coconut trees in Amalapuram is even much smaller at 55.80 meters long and 45.52 meters wide or 1/4 hectare.
