The crystal red shrimp or red bee shrimp (Caridina cantonensis sp.), a native freshwater ornamental shrimp of Taiwan, was first bred in captivity by Hisayasu Suzuki in 1996 in Japan as phenotypic variants of his black bee shrimp population through selective breeding.

Blood red in pearl white
Such beautiful pet shrimp.
No sweet potato?
In our language (Philippine Tagalog dialect), sweet potato is "kamote" which could also mean "loser" or "failure." That is if someone referred to you or called you a kamote.
Otherwise, kamote means just the plain sweet potato as an edible root crop.
Hmm for feeding pet bee shrimp?

Why not?

Nothing to lose in trying.

I know you don't believe what I had posted about this diet with sweet potato. All I can say is, try it. I am nit selling anything and have nothing to gain by sharing this. But I guarantee you, it is amazing. All yellow on TCBS. No more necrosis. Not even a pleopod tip. Faster growth, IF...you watch closely and see that they consume more of this.
12 eggs, 400 gm cooked sweet potato, 50'grams squid, 50 mls cod liver oil and a gram of bakers yeast.steam cook, and grade theough screens for proper sizing based on larval /pl stage -size. Before you say another word....try it.
I am planning to finish the pictorial catalog of the larval development of Penaeus vannamei obtained from commercial hatchery business runs like in Penaeus monodon before I die to leave an additional permanent something to the industry.... In honor of Miss Pearl Lee Boone.

When I am in the hatchery again to complete and finish this unfinished task, I promise to give it a try.
Also, I am sure the hatchery professionals in this group have noted your compounded shrimp larval formula and would probably be the first to try it.
Let’s give it a proprietary name in attribution to you before someone puts a patent formula on it to claim it and make money out of it while blocking others from using it.
Bauman’s magic shrimp larval formula or Hank’s magic shrimp larval formula.
Bauman's larval diet formula or Hank's larval diet formula, perhaps.
Or simply, Hank Bauman's Formula (tried and tested)

One of the leading feed companies came to Belize to observe our pls and use of this diet. They told us they were going to break down the contents and formulate a diet with the same nutritional profile. Then we never heard from them. I was later told by a friend who worked for that company that they weren't going to work with me as they heard I was illegally importing P monodon into Belize. This was in around 2013-14. We did have monodon that we'd captured in our vannamei ponds, as did all the other farms in Belize. (We processed their shrimp and knew this for a fact). We bred them so we could get enough to send for proper PCR testing at U of Arizona, Dr Jim Brock in Hawaii, as well as Thailand.
Anyway, I'm not looking for personal gain or recognition. Just want to share what I saw as one of the biggest break throughs in shrimp culture in my 40 plus years doing it. It's a prebiotic. It makes the waste of the larvae a nutrient balance that selects for friendly bacteria, while also promoting fast growth.....against all conventional wisdom.
This industry is full of patent mentality people as well as credit grabbers, and credit name erasers or plagiarists, worse even crabbers.
Well, now Hank Bauman's formula is here in the industry for anyone who likes to utilize it as an alternative diet for diatoms or other species of microalgae and commercial microencapsulated formula in the larviculture of penaeid shrimp, and who knows as a nutritional formula for bee shrimp in the ornamental shrimp industry.
No one can claim this formula for himself as this came from Hank. You can modify its ingredients but the idea and the original base formula is Hank's
Well done Hank 👍
I can't take all the credit. Mr Schuyler Butler ( lives in Cebu, Philippines) helped modify the older diet we used, pre commercial larval feeds. He was the first to tell me about the "magic" of sweet potato.
But you are the one who first revealed and introduced this formula to the international shrimp aquaculture arena, so let's call this:
"Bauman and Butler's Larval Diet Formula (1984)"
You being the first author .... You who first revealed and introduced this to the world shrimp farming industry.
Because it's not Schuyler Butler who first revealed and introduced this tried and tested shrimp larval formula to the international arena, but you.
