Multiphase Shrimp Grow-Out

There is a very interesting  discussion going on on LinkedIn regarding multiphase grow-out.

One school of thought is of the opinion that Aquaculture multiphase growout is becoming even more important now due to rising production costs and super optimized feeding strategies. Fancy and non fancy accounting practices consider "production inventories and stock flows" crucial to meet more predictable returns targeting cost-efficiency 24/7. They believe phased management is ever more critical to attain success.

Another school of thought mentioned they tried 2 and 3 phases with counting and grading after each phase. They believe that three phase grow-out with discarding the slow growers works best.

A third school of thought believes that 2 phase grow-out has been pretty much standard since shrimp farming started. Nursery to grow-out - transferring with counting. They believe that multi-phase - up to 5 stages - have been trialled and that if it is about optimization of space, water and feed timization, that can be done via other methods. They also believe that one has to think transfer handling stress and labour costs.
