What is the Yield (kg/m3) of vannamei shrimp in clear water RAS in both freshwater and Brackish or Marine water? I have heard from a consultant that we can achieve 20kg/m3 with a series of mechanical filtration (drum filter), MBBR, Ozone and UV filter. How far is this true??

Dear Dr. Kada,

40 kg harvested vannamei shrimp per cubic meter will be at an initial stocking of 1 g vannamei juveniles from the indoor RAS nursery to the indoor RAS grow-out at 1,883 pcs / cubic meter with at least 85 % survival, harvesting 1,600 pcs / cubic meter at 25 g average weight in 90 days or less in a 2-phase or multi-phase indoor RAS production system.

Or at an initial stocking density of 1 g vannamei juveniles from the indoor RAS nursery to the indoor RAS grow-out at 1,426 pcs / cubic meter with at least 85 % survival, harvesting 1,212 pcs / cubic meter at 33 g average weight in 90 days or less in a 2-phase or multi-phase indoor RAS production system.

Kind regards,

Nelson
